MANUFACTURING PROCESS

Process 1Production of a master model
(wood mold production)

A beautifully refined face that feels comfortable simply by slipping it into your hands

The production of Honma clubs that appeal to the sensibility of people in a way that cannot be expressed simply on the basis of scientific data starts with the whittling, by a designer, of a wood mold that will serve as a master model.

Process 2Production of a master model
(3D scanner)

A bronze master for creating a titanium head

A bronze master for creating a titanium head is produced by scanning the wood mold with a 3D scanner and utilizing a CAD system and sophisticated NC machinery.

Process 3X-ray inspection

Even small flaws cannot escape detection by seasoned artisans

Before they are polished, titanium heads are individually subject to internal inspections through the use of an x-ray device. Even flaws that do not appear on the surface cannot escape detection by seasoned artisans.

Process 4Wood heads abrasion

A world in which distances of 1/100 of a millimeter can make all the difference

Heads are polished in a world in which distances of 1/100 of a millimeter can make all the difference. The sensibilities of artisans enable the aesthetic appeal of heads to be refined.

Process 5Sonography

Inspection process of the state-of-the-art

As for the polished head, the inspection of the face thickness is conducted using a supersonic wave.
Guided only by his senses, a seasoned artisan scrapes off the surface of the head to ensure that the thickness of its face exactly satisfies the benchmarks that apply to this task.

Process 6Wood coating

Chance to show skill of an artisan

The work of coating the head with a sprayer puts the skills of an artisan to the test. Each head is carefully finished while the artisan’s own face is reflected in its surface.

Process 7Assembling

Where the club head at address is carefully scanned with a perceptive eye

The shaft is inserted into the head before these two components are joined together using an epoxy-type adhesive agent.
At this time, an artisan will place the club head at address and carefully check the lie, loft, face orientation, and more with a perceptive eye.

Process 8Balance check

Refusing to compromise on quality

Finally, the head is subject to a check to determine whether or not it complies with strict balance benchmarks using a precise balance meter.
